PCJCCI and UHE inked MOU for Women Empowerment
The Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) solidified its commitment to women’s empowerment by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Home Economics in Lahore. The signing ceremony took place at the PCJCCI Secretariat, marking a significant step towards fostering women entrepreneurship through the integration of contemporary and advanced technologies.
The MoU aims to introduce Chinese advancements in various sectors such as fashion and interior designing, fine arts, IT, Visual Communication, textile, food, and nutrition, with a focus on empowering young women in Pakistan. The event witnessed the presence of approximately twenty Chinese businesswomen alongside young entrepreneurs from Pakistan.
Dr Faleeha Kazmi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Home Economics, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the university’s dedication to fostering innovation and excellence. She emphasized the establishment of a Business Incubation Center, designed to equip students with modern, skill-based knowledge in entrepreneurship.
Moazzam Ghurki, President of PCJCCI, underscored the significance of the partnership in tapping into the potential growth of the fashion and interior designing sector in Pakistan. Ali Raza Rizvi, Executive Committee Member of PCJCCI, reiterated the MoU’s focus on skill development, women empowerment, and technology up-gradation in the textile sector.
Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General of PCJCCI, outlined the organization’s objective of facilitating connections between Chinese companies and the University of Home Economics to create opportunities for women pursuing degrees in fashion and textile-related fields.
The partnership between PCJCCI and the University of Home Economics signifies a mutual commitment to fostering trade, development, and cultural ties between China and Pakistan, ultimately contributing to future stability, security, and prosperity for both nations.
